Kathleen: Focus on women to build strong children in the future
Suzanna, what did you hear from your friend at Career Learning Center about their closet???
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about all of the ideas. However, I am a bit worried about time. I feel that the Welcome Committee that Carrie talked about would be the easiest for now. It has the potential to grow and become much more in the future. By starting small, we will be able to focus and grow support quickly. Any other thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI like what Kathleen said! And the sky is the limit. As a Welcoming Committee, we will have first access at new community members and the opportunity to involve them fully in local events. We can create local events, such as a clothing drive. We'll be the liaisons between newcomers and established members of Rapid City and ensure each side is able to accesses the multitude of resources inherent in other perspective.
ReplyDeleteI see the Welcoming Committee as being a huge time commitment. Not only do we have to organize it, but we would then have to maintain it on a monthly, if not weekly basis. There are a lot of people coming to the Rapid area and this is huge.
ReplyDeleteIf we did the clothing drive, we can collect clothes in the spring, summer and fall. We have to organize that and find a place to keep the clothes. We could try to find a donated storage unit for storage. As far as giving the clothes out, we can organize that around job fairs in the area and by appointment if the clothes are not housed as CLC.
